TraumaSFX™ Double Compound Fracture Latex Appliance
$11.50
TraumaSFX™ Double Compound Fracture Latex Appliance is a pre-colored and detailed latex appliance designed to simulate a realistic-looking compound broken bone trauma. It’s made with feathered edges for easy blending with a seamless appearance, and creates the life-like illusion of an exposed, skin-breaking broken bone fracture, especially when finished out with theatrical blood products.
The prosthetic is constructed to simulate open fractured radius and ulna bones located vertically inside an adult person’s forearm. Special effects artists use this appliance frequently for high definition realism in movie and TV work. Civilian and military medical personnel use it in their pre-hospital care medical training scenarios because it can be quickly applied and finished out to give life-like looking results.

TraumaSFX™ Double Compound Fracture Latex Appliance is made of a flexible latex material that is lightweight to wear for extended periods of time. It can also be used in conjunction with other prosthetic appliances to create a wider range of injury scenarios.
This prosthetic is a reusable appliance when properly removed, cleaned and stored. It’s also waterproof in wear, and easy to finish with additional color makeup if desired. It can also be trimmed with scissors to create a single open bone fracture that can be used on the leg, near the top of the wrist or on the collar bone.
For best adhesion and secure wear, first clean the skin area with TraumaSFX 99% Alcohol Activator where the appliance will be placed, and allow skin to dry thoroughly. Also clean the underneath edges of the appliance with the same to remove any powder residue. For best results, apply a very light film of Graftobian Makeup Setting Spray or Graftobian Magic Set Mixing and Lining Liquid to cleaned skin and allow to dry thoroughly. This allows for maximum adhesion of the appliance glued to the skin.
For economy and short term wear, apply “It Stays” Roll-on Adhesive liberally to the underneath edges of the appliance and then press it onto the prepared skin area until firmly in place. Hold it there for about 30 seconds while pressing down around the edges of the appliance to secure in place. The appliance can also be stippled around the edges with Graftobian Clear Liquid Latex to create a seamless edge finish that blends onto the skin and further secures the appliance adhesion. Powder the completed appliance application with Graftobian Translucent Pro Setting Powder, and dusting off excess before proceeding to apply finishing products.
If desired use latex appropriate makeup such as the Graftobian Pro F/X Rubber Mask Grease Derma Wheel in flesh tones to color and blend prosthetic edging with skin. Alternately, Graftobian Modeling Wax can be used to blend out edges and further secure the appliance to skin. Apply any finishing effects such as theatrical bloods, dirts, bruising makeup, etc., to achieve the desired authentic results.
For more durable and longer wear use a medical grade acrylic adhesive such as Graftobian Pro Adhesive, and following it’s instructions for use in application. When ready to remove prosthetic from skin use an appropriate acrylic adhesive remover such as Graftobian’s Pro Adhesive Remover to lift appliance off skin. Use Graftobian Makeup Remover to clean off any adhesive residue from skin and any remaining on appliance.
LATEX SENSITIVITY: A very small percentage of the population is sensitive or allergic to latex ingredients, including any pre-made latex prosthetics. It is strongly recommended that a patch test be performed first to determine skin sensitivity for safety. If redness or a rash develops during or after patch testing discontinue use. Individuals who are known to be latex allergic or suspected of being latex allergic should avoid coming in contact with this product.
