TraumaSFX™ PVA Shot Gun/Blast Wound Appliance is an injury simulation so realistic due to its translucent skin-like features with waterproof, rub-proof and sweat-proof wear. It provides reliability and continuity in all-day wear with no repairs or refits. It’s rugged multi-use durability that won’t lift or shift once applied, and when done it’s easily removed from skin.
It’s the preferred ready-made appliance because it’s so economical, fast, easy, and clean to apply on skin. It self-adheres securely and won’t fall off during wear or interaction with it such as bandaging, etc. It’s a completely safe and non-allergenic appliance and the ideal alternative to the much higher expense of silicone prosthetics in achieving equal or even better high-fidelity realism results.
The Shot Gun/Blast Wound is ideal for patient simulator manikins and adheres equally well to them regardless of their texture. It’s uniquely translucent, blending with the natural tones of the skin underneath it and right down to the edges. Once it is firmly attached it stays in place for all-day long wear and under all kinds of tactical movements.
Applying the prosthetic is quick and simple with a 99% alcohol product, such as TraumaSFX™ 99% Alcohol Activator. This vinyl-based appliance MUST applied with 99% alcohol ONLY for maximum adhesion and durable performance in wear. Do not use 91% alcohol as you will not achieve a good temporary lamination to skin!
To apply: wipe skin area first with TraumaSFX™ 99% Alcohol Activator to remove any surface oils and dirt and allow to dry. Then apply the alcohol liberally to the area where you will attach the appliance. Place the appliance into the wet alcohol on skin and begin pressing and smooth out any air bubbles that may remain underneath until appliance is firmly attached to skin.
If some flashing still remains around appliance edges it can be removed with a cotton swab dipped in the alcohol and saturate only the outer edges (flashing) of the appliance. Press and roll on the excess edges with the cotton swab, moving it away from the piece as it separates off, then blend it down to appear like it is part of the skin.
