Created through much research and development with the expertise of military battlefield medics and civilian EMS first responders, the Trauma Simulation Paint Box Palette is a collaboration in producing and accurate view of what real-life blood, bruising, cuts and other kinds of tissue damage and injury related colors look like.
It’s the must-have customized palette for any SFX and moulage artist to own and accurately re-create many kinds of injuries with authentic casualty simulation colors for real-to-the eye trauma simulation results, especially in HD camera work.

TraumaSFX™ Trauma Simulation Paint Box Palette provides a superior degree of ink color pigmentation that brings to life an array of realistic injury simulation colors. It delivers high-durability color performance in wear, continuity, and true color payoff. Ink colors can also be mixed to create infinite custom blends to apply in thin translucent layers like watercolors or built up for more opaque results.
These FDA approved pigments provide buildable, blendable color application results that dry quickly and are absolutely waterproof, rub-proof, and transfer-proof. Once set they wear with great continuity and virtually no touch-up. It’s perfect for color and finishing effects on skin, hair, all kinds of prosthetic appliances, and safely usable on human patient simulator manikins.
The Paint Box Palette contains the following colors: Prime Red, Prime Blue, Prime Yellow, Bruise Red, Vein Blood, Fresh Blood, Contusion, Tendon, Dirty Brown, and Charcoal. It’s easy to use once activated with 99% alcohol, such as TraumaSFX™ 99% Alcohol Activator and worked into the surface to create a liquid paintable form. They can be applied with a variety of tools, such as brushes, sponges with different textures, cotton swabs, mascara wands, even fingers to achieve that “inside the skin” ultra-realistic result!
It’s important that only 99% alcohol be used to fully de-saturate and activate the solid ink color in the pan for full color intensity results. Spray a layer of the alcohol over the top of the color in pan and stir firmly with a brush to liquefy color for full strength use. Spray additional alcohol to rehydrate during use if needed. Do not use 91% alcohol or lower percentage as you will not be able to achieve full color saturation results.
TraumaSFX™ Trauma Simulation Paint Box Palette features a magnetic case design with easy interchangeable and replaceable magnetic pans. Paint Box Palette Refill Pans for each color in the palette are also available for separate purchase, so no messy refill liquids to deal with and extra dry down time to refill the colors. Just pop out the used-up one and replace it with a fresh, full measure color pan.
For overnight or repeated wear it’s strongly recommended to seal or powder the skin application well to protect it with a light misting of Graftobian Setting Spray or Graftobian Translucent Pro Setting Powder to preserve it. Using both, the powder over the spray provides the best barrier protection against any friction between use. Minimal touch up with additional color may be needed to restore intensity if needed.
Ink colors are easily removed from skin and prosthetics with a gentle, alcohol-blend remover, such as Graftobian Pro Adhesive Remover.
NOTE: It is strongly recommended that a patch test be performed first before using to gauge suitability for use on patient simulator manikins or other artificially made skins.
CAUTION: As with all alcohol-based liquid makeup applications avoid using in or around eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not use any oil or oil-based products over an application as it will slowly dissolve the ink color.
